My name is Sharon Neal and I have been Dr. Weiss’ patient for many years.
Prior to becoming a patient I had searched, unsuccessfully, to find a doctor who practiced both alternative and traditional medicine. Before I became a patient of Dr. Weiss, I had been suffering from IBS symptoms for several years. Over those years, my primary care physician and my gastroenterologist had given me various tests, but couldn’t isolate the cause(s) of my problem. Also they gave me various prescriptions to deal with the symptoms, but these medicines either didn’t work very much all or I, in a couple of cases, had severe reactions to the drugs. My primary care doctor finally said to me, "You are just going to have to live with this."Not willing to give up on trying to get better, I was looking in the yellow pages one day and saw that Dr. Weiss seemed to be using a broader approach than did the more conventional doctors I had been using. His ad mentioned that he used the best of both Eastern and Western medicine. So, I decided to make an appointment. First, Dr. Weiss spent a great deal of time listening to me. Then, he ordered several lab tests, tests that had not been done by my other doctors. With his careful work, he was able to diagnose the causes of my problem, causes that turned out to be gluten intolerance plus a Candida overgrowth. Then, these identified causes were treated by a combination of approaches: dietary changes, Chinese herbal medicine, digestive supplements, and simple things like probiotics and digestive enzymes. (Interestingly, one of my previous doctors said he didn’t believe in the Candida theory. Also, both of my earlier doctors had simply accepted the negative results of a blood test for celiac disease and wouldn’t test any further for gluten intolerance.)It has taken several months for my intestines to heal, but I am now feeling much better than I have in many years! Dr. Weiss is the best doctor I have ever had. I had been diagnosed as being hypothyroid by a very good doctor, only he did not know how to treat it right. I struggled for years trying to overcome extreme fatigue, weakness, depression, and many more symptoms. I would get better, then gradually worse again. You saved my life! When I came to your office for a last minute appointment on 3-27-08, you knew that something was seriously wrong with me. You asked me many questions – questions others may not have asked. Although you didn’t know exactly what was wrong, you knew I was mentally and physically regressing and needed to go to an emergency room immediately. You called the ER Doctor at a local hospital and informed him that you were sending me in to their ER. He told you that it was not an emergency situation and should be handled by my regular doctor outside of the ER. However, you persisted and called the ER at another local hospital. They did a complete neurological workup and ran lab work on me. They told us that the problem was not neurological, but physical. They told my mother that my potassium level was the lowest they had ever seen. I would have been dead in another hour if I had not gotten in and began treatment when I did. I had motion sickness when traveling, especially on boats since childhood. In the early 90’s, Meniere’s Disease began with 3 days flat on my back and soreness and tenderness in my right ear. Then continuing symptoms of nausea and dizziness for years often accompanied by tenderness or pain in the right ear and swelling of right mastoid. The first attack of uncontrollable vomiting was in 2000 and then again when tested for Meniere’s in 2003. I was almost hospitalized until non-stop vomiting was stopped by Phenergan. Severe symptoms continued for a month until handed a homeopathic remedy that Dr. Weiss prescribed which put me on my back for 36 hours, (homeopathic aggravation) and then have had almost no symptoms since. Minor symptoms have been cured by handling the remedy for a minute or so.

Since childhood I've suffered from serious allergies. As a child I took Benadryl on a nightly basis. After getting my PhD I taught in Georgia and Louisiana for ten years. During that time it was unusual when I had an allergy-, headache-free day. For much of the time I took over the counter medications that left me feeling hungover at school. When I first saw Dr Weiss, I was miserable, with chronic persistent eczema that itched extremely, burned, and bled because I could not avoid scratching it. Because it was disfiguring, I never wore short sleeve shirts or shorts in public. Over the previous three years I had spent a lot of money and time trying to solve the problem. I had followed courses of treatment from a dermatologist, a naturopath, acupuncture doctors, and an Ayurvedic practitioner. I changed my diet, gave up dairy, gave up wheat, gave up sugar, just about gave up fun--nothing worked! In fact, the eczema continued to spread, taking over my entire torso and traveling from other spots on my body as well. Then I went to see Dr Weiss. In the first month, with the first remedy he prescribed, the eczema began to shrink. In two months I had a smooth torso and it was decreasing everywhere else as well. In the course of a year, as he "tweaked" the treatments, the eczema, disappeared, except for two small spots. I stopped going because I forgot it was there!
